Indications of a redistribution of mass, affecting the earth's rotation and axis, was clearly written before the 9.3 Sumatra quake on December 26, 2004 and Asian tsunami that followed it. The author of the article did not mention the Sumatra quake among major earthquakes in recent years, so the article must have been written before the Sumatra event.  

The site of the 9.3 Sumatra quake is related to the site of Atlantis in a way that is not widely discussed by the media in America.  (That's sort of humorous when one thinks about it -- the idea that the media would discuss oceanography.)  

Sumatra is east of the mid-Indian Ocean ridge, which is a submarine mountain range that connects with the mountains of the mid-Atlantic ridge that apparently connects with the microcontinent on which Iceland is situated.  Anciently, the warm gulf current flowed from the Caribbean close to the Azores and Iceland then into the Arctic Ocean after it was deflected by a land mass located in the Azores area.  The ice sheet of the last glacial period never covered Iceland.  All of this information is important relative to the shape of the planet and its rotation in the past, which is to say it is important for understanding the current shape, axis and rotation of the planet.  

A range of mountains runs from Iceland parallel to the coast of Europe and Africa then curves to the east around the coast of Africa and connects with the mid-Indian Ocean mountain ridge that is parallel to the site of the Sumatra quake, with Sumatra to the east of the mountain range.   

The relationship of the Arctic Ocean and Iceland are connected to submerged land masses in the Atlantic, the are the probable ancient location of Atlantis.  The Soviet N. F. Zhirov in his book "Atlantis" brings out the fact that the Arctic is the youngest of all oceans and shows no evidence of volcanic activity in areas of it's formation.  

The Hutton Commentaries article points out that an unusual cluster of 17 earthquakes in the high Arctic has now been tied to submarine volcanism in the Arctic by German researchers.  "C. Muller and W. Jokat... measured more than 200 earthquakes between January and August 1999 that originated along the submerged Gakkel Ridge...  They state that 'The detection of this earthquake swarm and the evidence for its volcanic origin is the first direct evidence of recent volcanic activity in the high Arctic.'"

The Arctic and Siberia were affected by events associated with the subsidence of land in the Atlantic, and the mythology of Atlantis.  The same point of subsidence in the Atlantic has a connection to the mid-Indian ridge near the 9.3 Sumatra quake in 2004.

The light is slowly dawning that the events of Atlantis are the single most key event -- geophysically and geosocially -- to the conditions on the planet as it now exists.  This slowly dawning light explains why several early UFO contacts discussed accounts of Atlantis and Atlantis continues to be a theme of discussion in UFO events.  

Stay tuned for more on this important topic. While any serious reseacher must conclude that Plato's Atlantis may be mythical, the physical fact of land where he reported Atlantis existed in the Atlantic is truthful.  The fate of Atlantis may have influenced the planet's rotation, distribution of land masses, climate and conditions of life for millennia.  The society of Atlantis may have been a far more major influence in the social developmentof earth than presently understood.

While the writer of the article at Hutton Commentaries attempted to tie Edgar Cayce's predictions to a shift in the earth's axis, I have no interest in doing this.  I'm interested only in the science and progression of the earth's evolution as a planetary body.

  The science suggesting a shift of the earth's axis, associated with a large-scale redistribution of mass, started around 1998 is very similar to the Soviet science indicating that the land mass of Atlantis existed in the Atlantic.  In fact, the data reviewed for the redistribution of mass in 1998 is eerily similar to data Soviet scientist N. F. Zhirov reviewed concerning the subsidence of Atlantis.  Peter Thompkins mentioned the Soviet book by N. F. Zhirov, published in the Soviet Union in 1970.  I tracked down the book, entitled "Atlantis", and ordered it from Ireland recently.  The book was not published in the U.S. during the Cold War, when the Soviet Union and U.S. were declared enemies.  

  Zhirov's book is extremely well written as a scientific text for the public.  Theories of the earth's rotation (angular momentum) and heat from the core of the earth are central to the Soviet theories of continent and ocean formations that Zhirov explains.  The Soviets did EXTENSIVE research of the Atlantic ocean, for some reason known mainly to the Soviets.  In contrast, the U.S. did limited research in the Atlantic which was mainly focused on the continental slope closest to America's east coast.  The U.S. did very little research in the eastern Atlantic where the Soviets say they found evidence that continental masses recently existed in the area where Plato described Atlantis.  Zhirov criticized American scientists for conducting limited research in the Atlantic and failing to review foreign scientific studies of the area.  

  Soviet research indicates the oceans formed at different periods, indicated by varying depths of oceans and composition of the ocean floors and continents.  The Pacific is the oldest ocean.  Composition of the ocean floors indicates the Atlantic and Indian Oceans formed later, during the tertiary period.  American scientists believed that the oceans were formed at the same time as the earth's crust and have always existed as permanent features of the planet.  The Soviets disagree.  Zhirov presents a compelling case of scientific data that he compared with American statements at a symposium that simply declared the oceans had always existed exactly where they now exist.  End of story.  

  Zhirov clearly explains the Soviet theories of continental and oceanic formation relative to the earth's core and rotation and distribution of mass.  The Soviets did not accept the theory of continental drift, proposed by Wegener, in its entirety, mainly because there is no evidence on the ocean floor of continental drift.  Continents drifting over thousands of miles would certainly leave markings of some kind in the ocean floor that are not detected. 

  Core drillings of the Azores area showed that fresh water flora existed in the area within 12,000 years and that climatic temperatures had radically shifted within a 100 period during the last 13,000 years.  The granite of the Azores area is directly linked to a microcontinent of which Iceland is the sole survivor.  Vegetation found in the Sargasso Sea is directly related to vegetation found only in Iceland, and Zhirov theorized that the currents carried the vegetation to the Sargasso Sea after Atlantis sank.  European eels spawn only in the Sargasso Sea, with its vegetation uniquely related to Iceland.  American eels spawn in the Bahamas in entirely different vegetation than that found in the Sargasso Sea.  Explaining the distinctly different vegetation in the Sargasso Sea and the Bahamas is a challenge that Soviet science accomplishes pretty well, with the land mass of Atlantis in the eastern Atlantic within the last 12,000 years.

  After reading Zhirov's book, I am no longer surprised that Soviet and Cuban archaeologists are the ones exploring the sunken pyramids off the coast of Cuba.

  I found Zhirov's book by searching on www.abebooks.com.  The postage from Ireland was as expensive as the used book purchase.  I hope some of you will find it and compare notes with me, especially in view of the pole shift postulated with similar data.

  Two Scientists Have Detected A Large-Scale Redistribution Of Mass
  Within The Earth System, Beginning in 1998!

  Introduction
  The Hutton Commentaries (THC) has been saying from the beginning that a shift in the poles of Earth's rotational axis can only be caused by a significant shift of mass somewhere within our planet. Now, two scientists studying data on Earth's gravity field have found evidence of just such a mass shift that began in 1998. This is the year in which Cayce readings 3976-15 and 378-16 said that a forty-year-long period, from 1958-1998, marking the beginning of predicted Earth changes would come to an end. Then, in 1998 and beyond there would be "the changes wrought in the upheavals and the shifting of the poles."

  We present evidence here that the "upheavals" may have begun in the inner Earth between 1998 and 2002, where the liquid outer core meets the overlying plastic mantle. This is the core-mantle boundary, or CMB. Upheavals along the CMB may have been detected by means of precision satellite-ranging measurements conducted since 1979. Interpretations of the voluminous measurements between 1979 and 2002 have been published by two scientists, Christopher Cox and Benjamin Chao, in the August 2 issue of Science magazine (p. 832). Here follows their reasoning and their conclusions.

  The Measurements
  Earth's equatorial diameter is about 27 miles longer than its polar diameter. This slight pumpkin-like shape results from axial rotation and large-scale mantle convection. (See Figure 1).
