Three Earthquakes Felt in Baltimore Area



ANNAPOLIS, MD-  Folks around the Chesapeake Bay felt three minor earthquakes
Wednesday, and  scientists say that’s a pretty big event for the East Coast.

Three  earthquakes struck in the Chesapeake Bay area between 9:00 A.M. and
Noon  Wednesday, sending tremors throughout Baltimore and southern  Maryland.
Luckily none of the quakes did any serious  damage.



Seismologist Dr. Jerry Baum said, "Seismologists have  pretty much given up
trying to predict earthquakes, so we just wait and see.  This is a bit
unusual for this area to have two in different places almost  simultaneously.




The first quake hit at 9:22 A.M. The  epicenter was in the Chesapeake  Bay.
